SANTA CLARA – The 49ers on Tuesday announced the club waived wide receiver Victor Bolden and cornerback Greg Mabin. Both are second-year players.

No corresponding moves were made, but the 49ers are expected soon to activate rookie safety Marcell Harris from injured reserve. Harris, a sixth-round draft pick from Florida, sustained a hamstring injury in training camp and did not participate in any of the 49ers’ preseason games.

Bolden served a four-game suspension to open the season due to violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing substances. He appeared in four games and caught one pass for 10 yards. He made the 49ers last year as an undrafted rookie from Oregon State and apepared in nine games before ending the season on injured reserve.

Mabin appeared in six games, including one start at cornerback. He struggled in the 49ers’ Week 6 loss at Green Bay when he entered after an injury to starter Jimmie Ward. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers targeted Mabin on the final two drives, which resulted in the tying touchdown and the game-winning field goal as time expired.
