Anthony Davis has continued to hint at a return to the 49ers in 2016, going as far as to guarantee it.

General manager Trent Baalke on Friday finally addressed Davis' status on 95.7 The Game.

"As of right now, I've got no notification from the league to say that he has [filed for reinstatement]," Baalke said. "But that period is still open."

When asked if he could return, Baalke confirmed the possibility, saying, "Yes."

Earlier this season, Davis posted a photo of himself on Instagram in a 49ers home uniform with the message: 'Keep that spot warm for ya boy..'

The 26-year-old offensive tackle was a former first-round pick by the 49ers. The team traded up two spots to select the Rutgers product No. 11 overall in 2010.

He started 71 games from 2010-2014.
