The 49ers have two dynamic receivers in Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel. But Kyle Shanahan could always use more fun weapons for his offense.
What about bringing in Cordarrelle Patterson? ESPN's Bill Barnwell the 49ers will sign the dynamic receiver/running back/kick returner to a two-year, $5.5 million contract this offseason.
"I like the idea of Patterson heading to San Francisco, where the 49ers had the league's second-worst kickoff return unit in 2020 and have an offensive mind who can get the most out of those five touches for Patterson in coach Kyle Shanahan," Barnwell wrote.
Patterson, 30, very well might be one of the greatest kick returner in NFL history. He's tied for the all-time lead with eight touchdowns as a kick returner in his eight-year career. Patterson also led the league in kick return yards for the second straight season.
But Patterson isn't just a one-trick pony. He has 2,087 career receiving yards, 1,017 rushing yards and 18 total touchdowns on offense.
This past season with the Chicago Bears, Patterson became more of a running back than a receiver. He had 232 rushing yards and 132 receiving yards while starring as a kick returner.
For his excellence as a kick returner, Patterson has been named to four Pro Bowls and is a four-time All-Pro. He wouldn't be star on offense for the 49ers, but an offensive mastermind like Shanahan could perfectly unleash his speed and skills.
