Brandon Aiyuk's agent said Tuesday that Twitter disabled playback of a video featuring doctored footage of the 49ers rookie wide receiver posted by President Donald Trump's re-election campaign following separate requests by the representative and the NFL.
Ryan Williams told USA Today Sports' Josh Peter that he reached out to the social media company Monday at the request of his client after Aiyuk saw the campaign's video of Trump's head placed over his using Sunday broadcast footage of the rookie hurdling over a Philadelphia Eagles defender and into the end zone.
“His simple question was, ‘Can they do this?' " Williams said of Aiyuk. “And I went on the attack."

Williams said "a contact at Twitter" told him the NFL also worked to take the video down at the same time. Within a half-hour of the video being posted, Williams said, Twitter prevented users from playing the video. The original tweet currently says the "media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner."
Neither the Trump campaign, nor the NFL, responded to USA Today Sports' requests for comment.
Aiyuk came into the spotlight Sunday after he leapt over Eagles safety Marcus Epps before completing a 38-yard touchdown run. The Trump campaign tweeted a clip of the TD on Monday, with Trump's head in place of Aiyuk's and a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention illustration of COVID-19's ultrastructural morphology in place of Epps', following the president's discharge from Walter Reed Medical Center after he had coronavirus treatment over the weekend.

Trump returned to the White House on Monday amid a worsening outbreak among people connected to the White House or his re-election campaign. Over a dozen people tied to Trump have tested positive for COVID-19 over the last week, including the president himself and First Lady Melania Trump. Health department officials in Washington, D.C. say they've been unable to reach the White House in order to conduct contact tracing and other coronavirus protocols.
Nearly 212,000 people nationwide have died of the coronavirus, according to state officials and NBC News. Twitter flagged a tweet from President Trump on Tuesday morning for "spreading misleading and potentially harmful information related to COVID-19." Trump falsely claimed that the coronavirus was only as deadly as the flu.
