Colin Kaepernick is not on an NFL roster, but he's still getting shoutouts from stars. The latest came Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Rapper Cardi B, known for her hit "Bodak Yellow," found a way to thank Kaepernick on national TV as she introduced Demi Lovato's performance.

“Colin Kaepernick, as long as you kneel with us, we’re gonna be standing for you, baby," she said. Kaepernick first sat and then kneeled during the national anthem, starting in the 2016 preseason, as a protest against social injustices and police brutality on African Americans.

Also on Sunday night, 49ers safety Eric Reid kneeled as the national anthem played in Minnesota. Reid joined Kaepernick last year in his protest and has continued to voice his support for the former 49ers quarterback.
