Dak Prescott: 49ers one of teams ‘I talked to the least'

SANTA CLARA -- It came as no surprise to Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott that the 49ers passed him over four times during the NFL Draft.

In a conference call Wednesday with 49ers beat reporters, Prescott was asked how much interaction he had with the organization before the draft.

“Not much -- probably one of the teams I talked to the least,” Prescott said.

The 49ers drafted cornerback Rashard Robinson in the fourth round with pick No. 133. Two spots later, the Cowboys selected Prescott, who has started the team’s first three games in place of injured Tony Romo.

The former Mississippi State star said he did not have a formal meeting with the 49ers before the draft.

“I just figured they had their quarterback position set – that they liked what they had,” Prescott said. “I didn’t really give any teams much thought why they should get me or why they should be looking at me. I left that for those people to figure out.”

Prescott will face the 49ers on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium. He said he will face motivation every game because of where he was drafted.

“That’s every game,” he said, “and that’s even at practice, I guess. Being in the fourth round, everybody passed you up a couple of times.

“I have a chip on my shoulder. I have throughout my whole life. But the draft process definitely made it grow a little bit.”
