The 49ers will be without two starting linebackers for an indefinite period of time.

Second-year linebacker Dre Greenlaw missed his second day of practice on Monday as he has been placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said.

Greenlaw apparently sustained the concussion during the 49ers’ workout on Friday inside Levi’s Stadium. The 49ers did not practice Saturday. He was not on the field for practice on Sunday.

On Monday, the 49ers placed starting middle linebacker Fred Warner on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Players on the list have either tested positive for COVID-19 or are quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person.

Greenlaw started 11 games in the regular season and all three playoff games as a rookie. He started at weakside linebacker in the second half of the season when Kwon Alexander was sidelined with a pectoral injury. Greenlaw is slated to play this season at strong-side linebacker.
