Running back Todd Gurley led the Atlanta Falcons in rushing in 2020 after five seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.
He is scheduled for unrestricted free agency in March. And although it might not seem likely the 49ers would pursue him, he said he has thought about the possibility of playing in Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
“Kyle, he knows how to dial it up,” said Gurley during a Super Bowl week interview with NBC Sports Bay Area on behalf of Gatorade’s BOLT24. “He knows how to dial it up, for sure.”

The 49ers last week re-signed running back Jeff Wilson to a one-year contract. Wilson, Raheem Mostert and JaMycal Hasty are the 49ers’ running backs under contract for the upcoming season.
Gurley said Shanahan’s ability to maximize production will always make his team an attractive option for any offensive skill player.
“Even dealing with all the injuries this year with the 49ers, he was still able to put points up with the backup quarterbacks and whoever was in there at receiver or running back," Gurley said.
“I’ve definitely thought about that (playing for the 49ers). Shanahan’s a great coach.”

Gurley, 26, is coming off a season in which he gained 678 yards rushing with nine touchdowns for the Falcons. In his six-year career, he has 6,082 yards rushing and 71 touchdowns.
Gurley also has 243 receptions with 2,254 yards and 12 touchdowns, while taking pride in his pass protection.
