Scorigami! 49ers make NFL history in blowout win over Giants

Folks, we have a Scorigami.

The 49ers' 36-9 win over the New York Giants on Sunday didn't just improve their record to 2-1, it also made NFL history. This was the first 36-9 score ever.

The injury-riddled 49ers led 16-6 at halftime and then dominated the second half, outscoring the Giants 20-3. Nick Mullens stepped in at quarterback for Jimmy Garoppolo, who is rehabbing a high ankle sprain, and did an admirable job.

Mullens, in his first start since the 2018 season, completed 25 of his 36 pass attempts for 343 yards. He tossed one touchdown and didn't have any turnovers. His passer rating was 108.9.

While the 49ers -- including Mullens -- had their hiccups, they ultimately owned every aspect of the game. They had 73 offensive plays to the Giants' 49, outgaining New York 420 yards to just 231. The 49ers had the ball for nearly 40 minutes, and the Giants had it for barely over 20.

It was both a blowout and one for the history books Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
