Move over Halloween. October has a new major holiday that is taking the nation by storm, and it just happens to be a favorite of 49ers tight end George Kittle.

Sunday marks the second annual National Tight Ends Day, which falls on the fourth Sunday of October.

Kittle has been the torch-bearer for the holiday, but he revealed last week that it was actually created on accident by 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

“It was a conversation between Garrett Celek, Jimmy [Garoppolo] and myself,” Kittle told reporters Thursday. “I’m pretty sure it was a day when all the tight ends were active. So Jimmy G was like, ‘What is it, National Tight Ends Day?’ We’re like, ‘Yeah, it’s a holiday, man. It’s National Tight Ends Day.’ ”

Garoppolo is rolling with the holiday and is happy for his tight ends.

“I was trying to get George, Celek, all those guys fired up, declaring it National Tight Ends Day,” Garoppolo said Thursday. “And now it’s a holiday, so congrats to those guys.”

While Kittle hopes to celebrate the occasion with a big game against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts on Sunday, you can ring in National Tight Ends Day by purchasing this BreakingT shirt licensed by the All-Pro tight end.
