How PFF graded Deebo, 49ers in dominant win over Rams

The 49ers' PFF scores reflect a dominant performance in their 31-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Kyle Shanahan’s challenge to the team to close out the night with at least 40 run attempts appeared to heighten the physicality of the team. The 49ers set the tone early with two lengthy drives that kept the Rams' offense on the sidelines for all but eight plays in the first quarter.

George Kittle and Deebo Samuel were up to their usual tricks of running opposing players over when the ball was in their hands. Elijah Mitchell and Jeff Wilson added to the physicality, keeping the ball moving on the ground throughout the game.

With Mike McGlinchey out for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn quad, Tom Compton and Daniel Brunskill had their challenges -- allowing two quarterback hurries a piece -- but did enough to keep Jimmy Garoppolo off the grass for most of the game. Jaylon Moore left the game with a knee injury after playing only five snaps.

On the defensive side of the ball, turnovers were a huge part of the team’s success. Fred Warner and Co. tackled much better, only registering one miss which was a marked improvement from their Week 9 loss to the Arizona Cardinals where they collectively missed a season-high of 10 tackles.

Here are more highlights from the 49ers Week 10 PFF scores

Offense

LT Trent Williams - 93.7

Williams did not allow any quarterback pressures, and as usual, was a standout in run blocking with a 93.4 score. The veteran’s 97.8 overall grade on the season is the highest of any player in the NFL through Week 10.

TE George Kittle - 91.7

The people’s tight end caught five of his seven targets for 60 yards and one touchdown while also blocking Von Miller into the ground

WR Deebo Samuel  - 90.6

Samuel caught all five of his targets for 97 yards and a touchdown. Fifty-seven of his 97 receiving yards came after the catch and all but one of his receptions resulted in either a first down or a touchdown.

The physical receiver also had five carries for 36 yards rushing, three of which resulted in first down. Samuel forced five missed tackles receiving and another two rushing.

Samuel leads all qualifying receivers in the following categories:

  • Receiving yards per route run: 3.46
  • Yards after catch: 518
  • Yards after catch per reception: 9.6
  • Missed tackles forced: 13 (tied for first with Tampa Bay Buccaneers Chris Godwin)

QB Jimmy Garoppolo - 82.1

Garoppolo got the ball out quickly, with an average time from snap to pass attempt of 1.99 seconds last night, which was the quickest of any starting quarterback in Week 10. His 87.1 overall grade over the last three weeks is the highest of any qualifying quarterback in the league.

Defense

S Talanoa Hufanga - 77.7

The rookie safety’s 77.7 overall grade was the best on the 49ers' defense. Hufanga registered a quarterback hit and a pass breakup on the only time he was targeted all night. He also registered three tackles, including a pass break-up early in the third quarter that forced a Rams punt.

S Jimmie Ward - 76.3

The veteran safety registered two interceptions in the first quarter, including a pick-six, but that wasn’t this only contribution to the game. Ward did not allow a catch on four targets and registered two solo tackles.

DE Nick Bosa - 63.5

Bosa registered four quarterback pressures - one sack, one hit, and two hurries. The star pass rusher has found even more productivity while playing on both ends of the line, which has happened since Dee Ford was placed on injured reserve.
