SANTA CLARA -- Most of the 49ers' Pro Football Focus scores reflect the team’s sloppy play in their 30-18 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, but there still were some highlights.
One of the biggest potential challenges the 49ers faced heading into the matchup was rookie Jaylon Moore starting at left tackle in place of Trent Williams, who is dealing with both an ankle and elbow injury. Moore allowed two pressures and was called for being an ineligible man downfield penalty -- resulting in a loss of five yards.
The offensive line did a commendable job only allowing pressure on six of Jimmy Garoppolo’s 29 dropbacks. PFF recorded one sack allowed by Mike McGlinchey, one hit and one hurry allowed by Daniel Brunskill along with Moore's two hurries.

Garoppolo had a rough night when the offense did not utilize play action. The quarterback’s grade of 18.5 without play-action was a result of his eight completions on 16 attempts for 55 yards and two interceptions.
With play-action, Garoppolo fared much better, completing eight of his 11 attempts for 126 yards and a touchdown. The veteran’s passer rating when using play-action was 140.7.
On the defensive side of the ball, Azeez Al-Shaair was the top player of the group with an overall grade of 83.4, with Fred Warner right behind him with an 81.1 score. Both linebackers were flying all over the field.
Josh Norman might have been called for defensive pass interference, but his run blocking score of 93.0 was the highest on the team. PFF showed the cornerback was responsible for 10 tackles, which also was the team-high. Norman’s 58.9 coverage grade reflected the 102 yards allowed on six targets.
San Francisco 49ers
Jimmie Ward also was ranked near the top of the PFF defensive score sheet with five total tackles including a touchdown-saving tackle of Jonathan Taylor at the end of the first quarter. Two plays later, Carson Wentz fumbled the ball, which was recovered by Al-Shaair.

Offense:
TE Charlie Woerner 91.6
Woerner’s 91.6 overall grade was the best on the team last night. The tight end played a career-high 30 snaps and caught both of his targets for 30 yards. He also graded well with an 83.0 run-blocking grade.
RB Elijah Mitchell 79.6
Mitchell’s 18 carries for 107 yards contributed to his career-high PFF score. Four of the rookie’s carries went for more than 10 yards and 60 of his 107 yards came after contact.
LG Laken Tomlinson 78.1
Tomlinson did not allow a quarterback pressure in his 32 pass-blocking snaps. The lineman also received a 73.2 run-blocking grade.
Defense:
LB Azeez Al-Shaair 83.4
Al-Shaair received the highest overall grade on defense. The linebacker recorded nine total tackles, five total stops. While Al-Shaair did allow completions on both passes when in coverage, they only went for a total of 10 yards.
LB Fred Warner 81.1
This was Warner’s highest overall grade of the season, including an 87.0 coverage grade. The All-Pro recorded nine total tackles including six total stops. While the linebacker allowed catches on all three targets, they totaled zero yards of offense for the Colts.
CB Emmanuel Moseley 72.1
Moseley’s 81.4 coverage grade was from allowing only two catches on six targets for just eight yards, and included four pass breakups. His four pass breakups are the most by any defensive player in the NFL so far in Week 7.
DE Nick Bosa 65.9
Bosa did not have a career-best PFF score but he was still very productive leading the team with four quarterback pressures, including three quarterback hits. He was the only player with more than one quarterback pressure on Sunday night.
