SANTA CLARA -- Running back Carlos Hyde sounded optimistic Thursday about his chances of returning to action this week when the 49ers face the Arizona Cardinals.

Hyde missed the past two games with an injured AC joint in his right shoulder. He also had a week to rest during the bye. The 49ers listed Hyde as limited during practice, but he said he participated in the entire session on Thursday.

Hyde wore a blue jersey, signifying he was off-limits for contact. He said he did get some contact with a blocking sled.

“It’s definitely less painful,” Hyde said. “I hit it on the sled. I was fine. That was the only type contact I’ve had on it so far, and I was fine.

“I hit the pad hard, like I was running somebody over. I need to know, in case I do play and I do have to use my shoulder to get some yards, run a guy over. I have to know how it’s going to hold up. . . I was fine.”

Hyde said he believes he is on track to play in Sunday’s game. He leads the 49ers in rushing with 429 yards and six touchdowns on 109 carries for a 3.9-yard average. He sustained the injury in the 49ers' Oct. 16 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
