Jennings' highlights ‘might be best' 49ers exec has seen

If you've ever been lost in a YouTube rabbit hole of NFL draft prospects, there's a chance an NFL executive isn't far behind.

Adam Peters, the 49ers' vice president of player personnel, revealed Sunday that a pre-draft highlight reel of 49ers' seventh-round pick Jauan Jennings made the rounds among the coaching staff, and eventually reached the top of the organization.

"I joke around; I'm smiling because we had this video that we passed around, all the coaches," Peters told Keiana Martin on "49ers Live Look-in" (h/t 49ers WebZone). "We even sent it to [49ers CEO Jed York]. It's called 'The Dawg.' You guys should check it out on YouTube. But it's Jauan Jennings, nicknamed 'The Dawg,' and it might have been the best highlight video I've ever seen on YouTube.

"He's a seventh-rounder, and he's definitely more talented than a seventh-rounder."

David Bonilla of 49ers WebZone found the video in question, which you can watch below. Uploaded by a user named Billy Chandler, it had nearly 28,000 views as of press time. At least a handful of those views, in Peters' telling, came from some of the 49ers' staff.

The 49ers followed their own process scouting and, ultimately, selecting with the No. 217 overall pick in April's draft. That might not stop an early commenter from taking some kind of credit, though.

Logan Berry was the 12th user to comment on it, observing around six months ago that Jennings had "a 49er vibe to him."

Coach Kyle Shanahan and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo have both praised Jennings during training camp, and the rookie receiver will have an opportunity to make the 49ers' 53-man roster in the spot left open after Jalen Hurd tore his ACL.

If Jennings makes an impact this season, Chandler and Berry can say they saw it coming.
