Kerry Hyder is headed to the rival Seattle Seahawks after a productive one-year stint with the 49ers.

The defensive end has agreed to a three-year contract with Seattle, his agent told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

In a season where Nick Bosa went down with an early season-ending injury, Hyder emerged as the 49ers’ sack leader in 2020 with 8.5. He also had a career-high 49 tackles and added 18 quarterback pressures and 10 tackles for loss.

Now he’ll join fellow ex-49ers cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon, who also jumped ship to Seattle, albeit on a one-year contract.

The 49ers signed Samson Ebukam to a two-year contract earlier this season to help fortify the pass rush and he figures to get a lot of the snaps that Hyder received last year. The 25-year-old Ebukam is four years younger than Hyder and will join a defensive line that will also feature Arik Armstead and Dee Ford, who reportedly restructured his contract to help the 49ers gain some more cap room.

Now, twice a year, Hyder will get to line up against the big fellas like Trent Williams and Mike McGlinchey that he used to face on the practice field in 2020.
