This is not how Jeff Okudah expected his second NFL season to start.
The Detroit Lions cornerback and No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft received an earful early on from defensive backs coach Aubrey Pleasant after the 49ers' second touchdown on Sunday. Rookie running back Elijah Mitchell ran right by Okudah for a 38-yard TD, giving the 49ers an early lead.
It appears Pleasant wanted Okudah to ... well, do his job.
Okudah later was on the wrong end of an underthrown Jimmy Garoppolo pass that resulted in a 79-yard Deebo Samuel touchdown.
This will be a day to forget for Okudah after what was a disappointing rookie season as well.
