Mystery solved of viral shirtless swimmer at 49ers game

The only thing uglier than the 49ers’ loss to the Colts on Sunday night at Levi's Stadium were the horrendous weather conditions thanks to an atmospheric river storm in the Bay Area.

In the middle of the third quarter during the Colts' 30-18 victory over the Niners, a "Sunday Night Football" camera caught a fan in the stands that looked more like Michael Phelps preparing for a swim meet.

This hilarious costume play given the conditions immediately went viral, and now we know the identity and background of the shirtless swimmer. His name is Connor Parish.

SFGate’s Gabe Fernandez tracked down the 16-year-old's father, Dan Parish, and the details provide even more comedy. Besides the Phelps look being a compromise (originally snorkel gear was planned), our favorite detail is that he didn’t debut the shirtless look until the next torrential downpour, which happened in the second half.

Ideal timing for the viral moment.

“I came down [from getting food] and he was all dressed up, shirt off, ready to party,” Dan Parish told SFGate.

And one other fun fact - the annoyed girl sitting next to Connor wasn’t his sister like many believed, but rather a family friend who was annoyed with awful weather conditions.

A perfect viral storm.
