Thirty-two football players lives will change forever Thursday night when they're drafted by NFL teams. But it isn't a simple process.
The draft order certainly will change, as teams jockey for position to pick the player they really want. Top of the list for many is Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray, followed by a host of pass rushers -- Ohio State's Nick Bosa, Alabama's Quinnen Williams and Kentucky's Josh Allen, just to name a few.
The Arizona Cardinals are scheduled to pick first, followed by the 49ers, New York Jets and Raiders. What those four teams do could set the tone for the draft, so there will be lots of news and trade speculation surrounding them.

Follow this live blog through the day and see how the dominoes might fall.
5:30 pm.: Now that the Cardinals have drafted Kyler Murray, could Josh Rosen be on the move? ESPN's Adam Schefter has details on possible destinations.
The three teams that have spoken to the Cardinals this off-season about Josh Rosen are the Giants, Dolphins and Chargers. But Rosen has been a backup plan at best for all three. Arizona has no issues keeping Rosen; it is prepared to keep him if it doesn’t get a suitable offer.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 26, 2019
4:40 pm.: Could the Raiders and 49ers be involved in a draft-day trade? ESPN's Dan Graziano has heard there's a possibility.
Could there be a Bay Area swap in the works? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/hWGOxrTY3r— 95.7 The Game (@957thegame) April 25, 2019
4:33 p.m.: Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley is as curious as the rest of us about whether the Cards will take his former QB Kyler Murray.
4:30 p.m.: With less than an hour remaining before the draft, Kyler Murray still doesn't know if he's going No. 1
4:00 p.m.: Could Josh Rosen be Eli Manning's successor?
The #Giants passed on Josh Rosen with the No. 2 overall pick last year, but remain in talks to acquire the #Cardinals quarterback as this year's #NFLDraft approaches, per league source: https://t.co/kxSqM4pNow— Matt Lombardo (@MattLombardoNFL) April 25, 2019
3:21 p.m.: Lots of teams will be looking to move up once the dominoes start to fall.
Who wants to move? Sources say the #Bills have explored possibly moving up in the draft — maybe for a top defensive lineman. Meanwhile, the #Patriots and #Packers (at 30) are teams who could move up in the latter part of the draft for the right player.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 25, 2019
1:47: Don't expect the 49ers to draft wide receiver D.K. Metcalf.
Via @MaioccoNBCS on the MyTeams app, the 49ers and DK Metcalf did not mesh well at the Combine. Even got a little testy. Would not expect the Ole Miss WR to be a target in the second round.— Josh Norris (@JoshNorris) April 25, 2019
1:25 p.m.: Rosen or Murray? Or Bosa? Or Williams? Tough day in Arizona.
My first hit today from the #Cardinals facility including the team listening for better compensation for Josh Rosen if they go on the direction of dealing him and differing opinions on whether Rosen & Kyler Murray could co-exist on a team lacking experience on the QB depth chart. pic.twitter.com/pXZSjcPbFI— ig: josinaanderson (@JosinaAnderson) April 25, 2019
12:37 p.m.: Look for the Giants to major players in Round 1.
The back part of the first round could be fascinating tonight. Picks 21-26 — the #Seahawks to the #Colts — have shown an interest in trading back, I’m told. If the #Giants don’t get a QB at 6 or 17, they may trade back into the 1st for one.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 25, 2019
11:55 a.m.: Is Kyler Murray out of the running?
During their facility visit to the #AZCardinals, Quinnen Williams and Nick Bosa did everything today -- car rides, meetings, meals -- as if the organization was comparing them side by side. pic.twitter.com/5TE1Wnjy83— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 25, 2019
11:44 a.m.: The Steelers reportedly are interested in making a move up in the draft.
Of the teams making calls to potentially move up the draft board tonight, one of the notable ones is the Pittsburgh Steelers, per league sources. Pittsburgh not usually a draft-day mover. But Steelers have defensive needs and are exploring best ways to address them.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 25, 2019
11:04 a.m.: The Cardinals apparently have no idea what they are doing.
If the #AZCardinals have made a decision on No. 1, they are keeping it quiet. Source said GM Steve Keim reached out to at least one player -- #Bama DT Quinnen Willliams -- to let him know he’s still a possibility to go first overall.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 25, 2019
10:55 a.m.: Meanwhile, in Washington ...
The Redskins are not only in disagreement about whether to go quarterback with their top pick but which quarterback to select. While we know by now that Bruce Allen and Dan Snyder are fixated on Dwayne Haskins, there is a case being pled for Duke QB Daniel Jones per sources— Dianna Russini (@diannaESPN) April 25, 2019
10;32 a.m.: Another big-name defensive lineman could be on the move.
Report: Texans open to trading Jadeveon Clowney https://t.co/1vFLloWHon— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) April 25, 2019
10:05 a.m.: Montez Sweat was expected to fall due to a heart condition, but that reportedly might not be the case.
Whoa. Per @RapSheet, teams think Montez Sweat's heart condition was misdiagnosed at the combine. Additional tests reportedly indicate no risk.— Doug Farrar (@NFL_DougFarrar) April 25, 2019
9:00 a.m.: The 49ers reportedly are shopping one of their recent top draft picks.
Just heard 49ers are shopping Solomon Thomas, the third pick in the 2017 draft.— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) April 25, 2019
7:44 a.m.: Even Josh Rosen has no idea what the Cardinals are going to do.
Source: Josh Rosen still doesn't know what the Cardinals will do with pick No. 1 https://t.co/KvCCVEHHWX— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) April 25, 2019
7:38 a.m.: This seems like a bad idea.
Just talked to a Redskins source who told me Dan Snyder has "taken over the first round of the draft."— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) April 24, 2019
The last time that happened the Redskins traded two future No. 1's and a No. 2 to move up for Robert Griffin.
7:19 a.m.: The Cardinals reportedly have whittled down their choices for the No. 1 overall pick.
According to several sources familiar with the Cardinals' plans, the team ran an inclusive redraft process that encouraged blunt evaluations from coaches & scouts... and emerged with a mindset that three players (Nick Bosa, Quinnen Williams, Kyler Murray) stood above the rest...— Michael Silver (@MikeSilver) April 25, 2019
6.16 a.m.: Meanwhile, these teams reportedly are looking to trade down,
5:51 a.m.: There are two teams that reportedly could try to move up in the first round.
Two teams that have shown a willingness to trade into the top 10, doing their homework on what it would cost: The #Falcons and the #Redskins. For Washington, it would likely be for a QB. For Atlanta, the options are varied.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 25, 2019
4:28 a.m.: If the Raiders want to take a quarterback, it might not be Kyler Murray.
As the #Raiders ponder where to go with their fourth overall pick, worth noting: Oakland brass moved QB Dwayne Haskins up their board late this week, source said. He impressed them in his workout, and could be a consideration at No. 4 🤔🤔.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 25, 2019
