Report: 49ers met with versatile UCLA running back/receiver

The more weapons in the 49ers' offense, the better. Deebo Samuel already gives Kyle Shanahan the best ball-carrier from the receiver position in the NFL. Now, imagine Shanahan having another option who can excel in both areas.

UCLA's Demetric Felton is considered the latest do-it-all offensive weapon in the 2021 NFL Draft, and the 49ers reportedly have their eyes on the former Bruin. The Draft Wire's Justin Melo reported Wednesday that the 49ers are one of 10 teams that have virtually met with Felton ahead of the draft.

Felton, 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, did it all over his four-year career at UCLA. He primarily was a receiver his first three seasons before moving to running back as a senior. Felton finished his college career with 1,101 rushing yards, 958 receiving yards and 16 total touchdowns -- seven rushing, eight receiving and one kick return.

He even rushed for 206 yards on 32 carries against Arizona his senior year.

Felton opened eyes at the Senior Bowl while working with receivers, and scored the first touchdown of the game.

It feels like Felton's future in the NFL will be in the slot as someone who can also have packages out of the backfield as well. Shanahan's offense thrives off motion and deception. So does Felton's game.

When healthy, the 49ers' offense already is filled with weapons in George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wison Jr. and Samuel. Bringing Felton into the mix would only scare opposing defenses that much more.
