Former Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks defensive end Ziggy Ansah reportedly will not be joining the 49ers.
The 49ers hosted Ansah for a workout Tuesday, but NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported Ansah and the front office were unable to come to terms on a contract.

Ansah, 31, had 2.5 sacks, eight QB hits, two forced fumbles and two passes defensed over 11 games with the Seahawks last season. Coach Kyle Shanahan spoke highly of the free agent Monday before his workout with the 49ers.
"I've always been a fan of Ziggy, playing against him and stuff," Shanahan said Monday to Bay Area reporters. "He's always been a real good player. With [defensive line coach] Kris [Kocurek] having such a good relationship with him over the years, coaching him in Detroit."

Ansah played seven seasons under 49ers defensive line coach Kris Kocurek in Detroit. He made his only Pro Bowl with Kocurek coaching him up, when he had 14.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, 15 tackles for loss and 34 QB hits in 2015. He also had 12 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and 17 QB hits over 14 games in 2017 with Kocurek as his coach.

But Ansah dealt with a bevy of injuries in recent years and remains a free agent. And it appears his next team won't be the 49ers.
