Rams QB Goff cleared to play Saturday vs 49ers

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft from Cal, has been cleared to start Saturday against the 49ers.

Goff was diagnosed with a concussion from the Rams’ Week 15 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He has remained symptom-free long enough to clear the NFL’s return-to-play concussion protocol. Goff has started the past five games for the Rams.

The 49ers enter Saturday’s game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on a 13-game losing streak. The 49ers’ only victory this season came in Week 1, a 28-0 victory over the Rams at Levi’s Stadium. Like Goff, Colin Kaepernick has not started a game in which his team has won this season.

Goff is completing 54.7 percent of his pass attempts with four touchdowns and five interceptions. His passer rating is 65.7.
