On Wednesday at the NFL Scouting Combine, Bears GM Ryan Pace said Chicago wants to get a long-term deal done with Jeffery.
The Bears are "actively and aggressively negotiating right now," he said.
Last week, a report surfaced claiming there is a chance Jeffery could hit the open market. But that will not happen now.
Jeffery was selected in the second round (45th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.
San Francisco 49ers
He was limited to just nine games last year because of multiple nagging injuries.
In Week 13 against the 49ers, Jeffery was targeted 12 times, and caught four passes for 85 yards.
In 2013, he was named to the Pro Bowl after registering 89 catches for 1,421 yards and seven touchdowns.
In 2014, he racked up 85 catches, 1,133 yards and ten scores.
The 49ers will have to soon decide what to do with Anquan Boldin.
