Report: Browns like idea of QB at No. 2, but not Goff

Cleveland Browns new head coach Hue Jackson hasn't been very cagey about what he wants to do with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The quarterback position has been difficult to settle in Cleveland, and Jackson plans to fix that, saying in mid January, "We need a QB."

But with no clear-cut No. 1 passer in the draft, who will the Browns select?

With the expectation that they target a quarterback, the preferred selection is North Dakota State's Carson Wentz, according to Matt Miller of Bleacher Report.

The team reportedly is fond of Wentz's arm strength and ability to zip the ball.

If available, it is believed the Browns would select Wentz over California quarterback Jared Goff, who is more known for his accuracy.

Jackson recently met with Wentz at the Senior Bowl, according to the Cleveland.com.

"It's always hard when you're sitting in the stands watching these young guys, but he has a lot of the characteristics that you look for," Jackson told the Plain Dealer.

Wentz, a 6'5, 233-pound prospect, threw for 5,115 yards and 45 touchdowns during his time with the Bison.

Goff, along with Paxton Lynch of Memphis, round out the top-three passers in the upcoming draft.

The Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers are two other teams picking in the top 10 that have been connected to quarterbacks.
