PHOENIX -- The 49ers and Denver Broncos have tentative plans to hold joint practices this summer in conjunction with the teams’ exhibition game, a source told NBC Sports Bay Area.

Coach Kyle Shanahan and new Broncos coach Vic Fangio have discussed teaming up for multiple practice sessions this summer at the Broncos' training facility in Englewood, Colorado. The dates will be finalized after the NFL releases the preseason schedule in April.

The 49ers and Broncos are expected to resume their yearly preseason game this summer. The club met in the exhibition season for six consecutive years prior to last year.

The 49ers held joint practices with Denver in 2017 during Shanahan’s first summer as head coach. Last year, the 49ers traveled to Houston for practices with the Texans before their exhibition game.
