Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph is expected to interview for the 49ers’ head-coaching opening, but a source told CSNBayArea.com on Tuesday the meeting has not yet been scheduled.

The Dolphins are set to play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in the AFC wild-card round of the playoffs. Joseph wouldn't be allowed to interview until next week. Joseph was on the original short list of 49ers candidates that CSNBayArea.com reported on Monday, citing league sources.

Joseph is also expected to interview with the San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos, according to separate reports from ESPN and NFL reporter Rand Getlin.

Joseph, 44, began his pro coaching career with the 49ers as a defensive backs coach from 2005 to ’10. After coaching the secondary with Houston and Cincinnati, Joseph was hired as defensive coordinator this season on Adam Gase’s staff with the Dolphins.
