49ers open 2020 season with third-best Super Bowl odds

At long last, the 2020 NFL season is upon us. Although it will be a unique one amid the coronavirus pandemic, with limited numbers of spectators (or none at all) allowed to attend games and no preseason games for teams to prepare, the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans will open up the NFL slate Thursday night.

After last February’s thrilling contest in Miami Gardens between the Chiefs and 49ers, which squads will find themselves taking the field in Tampa five months from now in Super Bowl LV? (Odds provided by our partner, PointsBet.)

The experts over at PointsBet seem to think a repeat is in the works, as Kansas City opens the season with the best odds (+575, meaning you could win $575 on a $100 bet) to bring home a Lombardi Trophy. Coming in just behind the reigning Super Bowl champions is the Baltimore Ravens (+600), led by reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.

Coach Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers check in with the third-best odds (+1000), after an offseason that saw the team lose Pro Bowl talents Joe Staley and Emmanuel Sanders, but replace them with star left tackle Trent Williams and first-round wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, respectively.

Two more NFC contenders come in behind the 49ers, as Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints (+1200), along with the new-look Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+1400) featuring Tom Brady, round out the top five. See some more of the top teams below, and check out all the NFL odds from PointsBet here.
