Titans release former 49ers cornerback

The Tennessee Titans on Monday released veteran cornerback Perrish Cox, the team announced. 

Cox totaled three interceptions, 37 tackles and 11 passes defended in 11 games this year. 

The 29-year-old spent the 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons with the 49ers, starting 14 of his 40 games and tallying five interceptions, 22 passes defended, 66 tackles and two fumble recoveries. 

Cox played in 24 games over the past two seasons with the Titans, making 22 starts.

To take his place, the Titans promoted cornerback Kalan Reed from the practice squad.
