Watch Richard Sherman hype up 49ers fans with message before season

Last month, Richard Sherman wasn't shy about his belief in the 49ers headed into the season.

"If you don't believe you're going to win it, why play?" Sherman told Bleacher Report's Tyler Dunne. "What the f--k is the point of playing if you don't think you're going to win it? Like, there's no point. Why go out there if, 'How do you think you guys will do?' 'Oh, I think we'll be middle of the road.' Like, what the f--k are you going to play for in the middle of the road?"

The regular season now is right around the corner, and the outspoken Sherman unsurprisingly has the same confidence headed into his second campaign with San Francisco. He also has a message for 49ers fans.

"Stay humble," Sherman said to "NFL Total Access" cameras on Wednesday. "Stay humble. Even when we go do what we know we're going to do, stay humble. Don't rub it in people's faces, stay humble. We're going to take this journey. It's gonna be a beautiful journey, but we're gonna slap people on the butt and we're gonna stay humble. We're gonna get these dubs. We're gonna get these dubs, but everybody stay humble because it's gonna be a great ride and we're gonna make it smooth."

As 49ers fans are well aware, Sherman is no stranger to self-assurance.

After tipping away Colin Kaepernick's pass intended for then-49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree in the 2013 NFC Championship Game, Sherman called Crabtree a "sorry receiver" in an interview with Fox's Erin Andrews. In their next two matchups, Sherman held Crabtree to six receptions for 29 yards.

Sherman backed up his words with his play in other instances before and since, so his message on Wednesday is one to pay attention to.

It certainly has a different ring to The Faithful than the confidence he had against the 49ers.
