SEATTLE -- Jimmy Garoppolo solidified his spot in 49ers history Sunday with one of the best seasons in the organization's quarterback-rich history.

In what likely was the biggest regular-season game in their 74-season history, the 49ers left CenturyLink Field with a dramatic 26-21 victory over the Seahawks on Sunday night.

The 49ers won the NFC West and earned home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs.

Garoppolo did not throw an incomplete pass in the second half, as he finished 18 of 22 for 285 yards. He finished the season with 3,978 passing yards to rank No. 4 in a single season in franchise history.

His 69.1 completion percentage is third all time among 49ers quarterbacks in a single season, behind only Hall of Famers Steve Young and Joe Montana.

The 49ers finish the regular season with a 13-3 record, with Garoppolo playing every meaningful snap after missing the final 13 games of 2018 with a torn ACL in his left knee.

Garoppolo joins some lofty company among the quarterbacks who have led the 49ers to more than 12 victories in a single season.

Joe Montana started 15 games in 1984 and 1990, when the 49ers went 14-1 in both seasons with him under center. In 1992, the 49ers were 14-2 with Steve Young starting every game. Garoppolo joins the 13 Club, as the 49ers also registered 13 victories in a single season with Young (1994), Montana (1981) and Alex Smith (2011).
