Astros' Greinke to start vs. A's in Game 4 despite arm issues

Zack Greinke will be the starter for the Houston Astros on Thursday in Game 4 of the AL Division Series against the A’s.

It originally was announced the six-time All-Star was dealing with some arm discomfort and was being checked out by doctors, so he didn't start any of the first three games of the series. It turned out there was no structural damage, just soreness.

The Astros could have rested their ace even longer if the A's didn’t force a Game 4, but here we are.

A's outfielder Ramón Laureano, upon finding out the Astros announced their starter on Thursday, said Greinke is “just another guy on the mound.”

Greinke had one outing during the postseason this year against the Minnesota Twins in the AL Wild Card Game, where in four innings, he struck out one, giving up two hits and one run.

The A’s will sent Frankie Montas to the mound on Thursday in the do-or-die game with the Astros leading two-games-to-one in the series. Laureano knows he’s the right guy for the job.

“Yeah, he’s gonna do his thing and I’ll be behind him supporting him,” Laureano said. “So yeah -- I’m ready to see that show.”
