How Pache made young fan's day after touching Twitter exchange

It never hurts to shoot your shot.

A lucky fan found that out over the weekend when he was able to meet one of his favorite baseball players, Cristian Pache, after connecting with the Athletics outfielder on social media.

Ahead of the A’s-Rangers series finale at Oakland Coliseum on Sunday, Pache greeted fourth grader Jaden Solis of Gridley, California, on the field and gave him an autographed baseball bat during the touching moment. It might have been good luck, as the A's went on to win 2-0.

It was a dream come true for Solis, who made the special meeting happen when he reached out to Pache via Twitter on Saturday. Decked out in his Little League Atlanta Braves uniform, Solis asked Pache how many hits he would need to meet him in person on Sunday, which happened to be Little League day at the Coliseum.

After a heartwarming back-and-forth exchange between the pair, Pache and Solis’ dad put the plan into motion -- something the 23-year-old considered a “great honor.”

Once the pregame meeting happened on Sunday, Pache gushed about the “priceless” moment on Twitter.

“I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity and the honor to meet Jaden, a very kind and polite boy,” Pache wrote. “These are the things I love baseball for. Every time I can make a child like Jaden happy, I feel a happiness that I cannot describe in words.”

Solis said he would be cheering for his “idol” all season.

It's no surprise Solis wanted to meet Pache, who has quickly become a fan favorite in Oakland thanks to his on-field athleticism and kindness on social media. He has made it a point to try and connect with fans since coming to the team from the Braves organization as part of the Matt Olson trade.

Pache didn't start on Sunday, but Solis got to see his favorite player make an appearance when he pinch hit for Mickey McDonald in the seventh inning.

With plenty of Little League players in the stands on Sunday, the meeting between Pache and Solis served as a reminder for players and fans alike of what baseball is really about.
