The Athletics appear to have their eyes set on two sites in the Henderson area as possible locations for a ballpark as president Dave Kaval and team officials continue trips to Las Vegas, speaking to possible investors and those who would be in charge of making such decisions.
“Those are the two main ones that are close to good transit and transportation options, like big freeways,” Kaval told the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Mick Akers. “Those are the leading candidates for the Henderson options.”
The first is a parcel of land near the Galleria at Sunset Mall just off of U.S. Highway 95. The other is near the M Resort near St. Rose Parkway and Las Vegas Boulevard off of Interstate 15.

Kaval has been working tirelessly on transportation studies and has held meetings with Henderson staff, talking about the ways the city and the team could work together to bring a park to the area.
“We were learning more about ways that they could work with us and how they’ve done other partnerships, like with the Silver Knights and also with the Raiders on their training facility,” Kaval said told the LVRJ. “I think we’re learning from what has been done in the past, what’s possible now, what different tools are available through state law or existing local jurisdiction.”
Henderson Deputy City Manager Bristol Ellington confirmed to the LVRJ that the A’s are exploring public financial options with the city of Henderson. Ellington described the discussions as “preliminary.”
Kaval also said A’s brass met with executives of the newest resort on the famous Vegas strip, Resorts World Las Vegas.
Oakland Athletics
Kaval told NBC Sports California last month the overall attitude from Las Vegas has been a positive one. While the Oakland project to build a ballpark at Howard Terminal remains intact, it ultimately comes down to the A's finding a home. They’re running out of time.

The A’s are on the July 20-21 agenda with the Oakland City Council to further discuss the next steps for the waterfront ballpark.
In the meantime, the A’s have been looking at over 25 sites in the Southern Nevada area.
