Kotsay ejected for first time after arguing replay review

For the first time in his MLB managerial career, Mark Kotsay was ejected from a game for arguing a call on the field.

The play in question came in the top of the eighth inning of the Athletics' 2-0 loss to the Texas Rangers at the Oakland Coliseum on Saturday.

Rangers left fielder Brad Miller singled to left, driving in Adolis Garcia. The trail runner, Eli While, appeared to be thrown out at the plate to end the inning. But Texas challenged the call.

On the field, it appeared that White was clearly out, but upon review, umpires deemed that A's catcher Sean Murphy was blocking the plate, meaning the run counted.

Kotsay came out to argue after the top of the eighth finally ended and he was tossed from the game by home plate umpire Brian Knight.

Kotsay and the Murphy surely will have something to say after the game about the questionable ruling.

Kotsay, a longtime MLB player, is just beginning his career as a manager and there will be plenty more ejections in the years to come. It's a part of the job.
