A's better hope Vladimir Guerrero Jr. doesn't mash them like his dad did

Happy Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Day, to those who observe -- and I hope a lot of you observe this momentous "holiday."

If not, it's the day most baseball fans have been waiting for: 20-year-old Guerrero Jr. will make his major league debut with the Blue Jays on Friday night against the Oakland A's ... in Toronto.

He, of course, is the son of Hall of Fame outfielder Vladimir Guerrero, whose résumé also includes nine All-Star selections, eight Silver Slugger Awards and an American League MVP Award with the previously named Anaheim Angels.

Not bad.

Guerrero Sr. also did some serious damage against the A's during his tenure: A career .274/.340/.484 line with 22 home runs and 118 hits over 117 games (430 at-bats). And from 2004 to 2011, he boasted a .297 batting average at the Oakland Coliseum.

Anticipation for young Vladito's debut was heightened last year when he did this at Montreal's Olympic Stadium, where his dad starred for the Expos:

Guerrero Jr., who was sporting a No. 27 jersey in honor of his father, launched a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs and the exhibition game tied at zero. As you can see, it was documented by his dad, who couldn't be more proud.

And remains very proud:

We're excited for history to be made at the young phenom's debut, but for the A's sake, let's hope history doesn't repeat itself.
