Bob Melvin will be back as the Athletics' manager for the 2022 MLB season.
The A's on Tuesday announced they have exercised the club option on Melvin's contract for next season.

Melvin is the A's all-time leader in wins with 808 and became the 35th manager in MLB history to compile more than 1,300 total wins earlier this season. He has led the A's to six playoff appearances and three AL West crowns.

Melvin has been named Manager of the Year three times. He first won the award as the Arizona Diamondbacks' manager in 2007, and has won it twice with the A's -- once in 2012 and once in 2018.
The A's enter Tuesday first in the AL West with a 41-27 record.
