Bryce Harper chose A's for favorite MLB team in clip from travel ball

Bryce Harper recently said the A’s were among the potential teams he and agent Scott Boras were looking into as trade partners for the Washington Nationals at the 2018 deadline.

In a clip unearthed by NBC Sports California’s Dallas Braden, it appears Harper has been a fan of the A’s for a long time.

Harper ultimately spurned the Giants’ lucrative offer among others in free agency to sign with the Philadelphia Phillies, as Boras cited California’s exorbitant tax rates for the wealthiest brackets.

A trade likely would have forced Oakland to part with a haul of prospects and perhaps even some of the MLB roster’s top players. But Harper in a lineup alongside Matt Olson and Matt Chapman would be an absolutely frightening proposition for the entire AL.

Perhaps one day, after his contract with the Phillies expires in 2031, Harper can finish his career by joining the team he grew up supporting.
