A's DFA Kendrys Morales after two months with team, activate Mark Canha

This was inevitable.

A's manager Bob Melvin told MLB Network Radio Monday morning first baseman and designated hitter Kendrys Morales has been designated for assignment -- it was later confirmed by the team. This is coming off the heel of first baseman Matt Olson's return to the A's lineup after suffering a broken hamate bone in his right hand. Morales was acquired by the Green and Gold in March after Olson landed on the injured list.

In a corresponding move, the A's reinstated Mark Canha from the injured list after he suffered a sprained right wrist.

So, he's baaaaaack.

The A's head to Seattle to take on the Mariners on Monday evening with Mike Fiers starting on the hill.

Fiers earned American League MLB Player of the Week Co-honors along with Houston Astros' George Springer. Fiers threw the 13th no-hitter in A's history and 300th in MLB history on May 7 against the Reds. He's the first A's player to win the weekly award since Sean Manaea on April 22, 2018. And you remember what happened then ...
