Dustin Fowler is set to make his long awaited return back to Major League Baseball. The A's have recalled Fowler from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday, placing Trevor Cahill on the 10-day DL in a corresponding move.
In his first taste of the bigs, Fowler took a fall he'll never forget, but can now put in his past. Playing with the Yankees, Fowler crashed into the right field wall in the first inning of his major league debut last season, rupturing his right patellar tendon. He is yet to have an at-bat in the big leagues.
Fowler, who the A's acquired as part of their Sonny Gray trade with the Yankees, was healthy in spring training, but rusty. In 19 games, Fowler slashed .222/.245/.267 and was then sent to Triple-A to start the season.

Through it all, Fowler's comeback has come to fruition. With the Nashville Sounds, Fowler showed his immense potential, batting .310 in 30 games with three home runs and eight stolen bases.
Fowler is ranked as the No. 84 prospect in baseball by Baseball America and No. 99 by MLB Pipeline.
