Five Robbie Grossman replacement options for A's to fill left field

Robbie Grossman signed a two-year, $10-million contract with the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday, meaning the A's will have to start looking for his replacement in left field. Luckily, their rather crowded outfield offers several viable options.

A rejuvenated Grossman established himself as an everyday player in 2020, taking over starting left-field duties for the A's. He started 44 of the team's 60 games in left field, playing in 51 total. A switch-hitter with a crafty knack for getting on base, Grossman boasted a reformed swing in 2020, leading to a .241/.344/.482 line and eight home runs -- one shy of his career-best.

Still, the A's have plenty of options within the organization to replace Grossman, and that might be a good thing considering the lack of affordable free agents on the market this offseason. Should the A's elect to fill the position in-house, a wide array of candidates -- ranging from established veterans to Rule 5 Draft selections to top prospects -- are at their leisure.

Here are five candidates the A's could look at to be the team's starting left fielder in 2021.
