Montas' visa issue prompts A's to adjust pitching rotation

Share

The Athletics altered their pitching rotation slightly during their current series against the Detroit Tigers.

Starter Frankie Montas now will pitch Thursday instead of Sean Manaea, as Montas was dealing with some visa issues prior to the A's series in Canada against the Toronto Blue Jays. This appeared to just be a delay issue with backlogs.

Following the Tigers series, Montas will return to the Bay Area and wait for the team to return to Oakland to face the Chicago White Sox.

The Blue Jays finally returned to Rogers Centre in Toronto after spending the 2020 season playing in Buffalo at Sahlen Field due to the coronavirus pandemic and concerns over cross-border travel in and out of the United States by MLB teams.

Montas in 150 innings this season is boasting a 3.66 ERA with 167 strikeouts, which is good enough for a 1.20 WHIP.
