Lowrie's walk-off homer starts A's second half with bang

The A's were two outs away from losing the first game of the second half of the 2021 MLB season, but Jed Lowrie had other ideas.

With the A's trailing by a run to the Cleveland Indians at the Coliseum on Friday night, Elvis Andrus led off with a single. After All-Star Matt Olson lined out, Lowrie drove the third pitch from closer Emmanuel Clase over the right field wall for a two-run walk-off homer.

The 12,361 fans in attendance in Oakland went bonkers.

The A's began the second half with a thrilling 5-4 win over the Indians to keep pace with the Houston Astros, who beat the Chicago White Sox earlier in the night.

Lowrie made a little bit of obscure A's history with the walk-off homer.

The A's are a noted second-half team, so Lowrie's 11th homer of the season might be the beginning of another magical run for the green and gold.

If the A's are able to track down the Astros in the AL West, we might be able to look back at Lowrie's walk-off as the spark the team needed to win the race.
