Khris Davis joined elite company on Saturday.

The Oakland A's slugger hit his 40th home run of the season in an 8-7 loss to the Seattle Mariners, and sealed his third straight year with 40 or more homers. He became just the second player in A's history, and the first since Jimmie Fox in 1934, to go back-to-back-to-back with 40 home runs.

"It's just miraculous [the kind of] numbers that he puts up," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "We've had a long history of power hitters here, and to be with Jimmie Foxx in that kind of company and we're still looking at close to a month left ... He's been as consistent a power hitter as anyone's been in Oakland."

Davis also joined Foxx and Mark McGwire as the only players with three total 40-home run seasons in the franchise's 118-year history. The 30-year-old is also the first MLB player since Ryan Howard to record three consecutive 40-homer seasons, which A's play-by-play broadcaster Vince Cotroneo noted on Twitter.

Davis needs just eight more home runs to surpass Terry Steinbach for 15th on the A's all-time home-run list.
