Canha does not receive $18.4M qualifying offer from A's

The Athletics did not extend the $18.4 million qualifying offer to Mark Canha by Sunday's 2 p.m. PT deadline.

The outfielder now is a free agent. 

Canha, who turns 33 years old in February, played 141 games for the A's this past season. He slashed .231/.358/.387. His 17 home runs were the second-most in his career. Canha tied or set career highs in doubles (22), triples (4), RBI (61), runs (93), hits (120) and stolen bases (12). 

Canha's 2.5 bWAR also was the second-best of his career.

The Bay Area native and Cal product was acquired from the Colorado Rockies in December of 2014. He has spent his entire seven-year big league career in Oakland. 

Canha is a career .244 hitter with a .776 OPS. He has 89 career home runs, averaging 13 per season so far.
