Mark Canha might have just saved the A’s season.
With the A's leading 4-0 in the top of the third inning during Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series on Wednesday, Chicago White Sox infielder Yoan Moncada hit a sharp line drive to left field with two men on and no outs.
And then this happened:
What. A. Play.
Although the A's were leading by four runs, an extra-base hit there could have changed the entire tide of the game. ESPN broadcasters Dave Flemming and Jessica Mendoza repeated that that play could have been season-saving.
“That was a tricky one,” Canha told the ESPN broadcast as he was mic’d up during the game. “That was executed to perfection on my part.”
It sure was.
The A’s are currently on the brink of an elimination game, so this was the perfect boost to keep up their momentum.
