Being the designated music person anywhere is a lot of pressure. You sometimes end up being in charge of people's overall moods -- that's a lot of responsibility.
But it's something A's third baseman Matt Chapman never seemed to mind.
“Now it’s a blessing and a curse, because I’m still carrying the music," Chapman told The Mercury News' Shayna Rubin.

It was 2017, when Chappy was a rookie, that his music choices caught veteran outfielder Matt Joyce's ear. Joyce heard Chapman's music blaring over the speakers in the weight room, and that's when he dubbed him "DJ Rookie."
Since then, nothing's changed.
Rubin mentioned the fact that traces of Chapman's music decisions still are heard in the A's clubhouse. But they're also heard on the bus, both after wins and losses, during meals and during batting practices.

And it's a diverse selection: Tame Impala, Fleetwood Mac, Snoop Dogg, J. Cole, to name a few.
This has translated into how Chapman plays on the field in multiple ways, and knowing how he's continuously in MVP talks, it's funny to know it all started with a song.
