The 2021 Home Run Derby was everything fans signed up for … and more. And while Athletics first baseman Matt Olson didn’t walk away with the trophy, or spinning necklace, his performance did give us a spectacular moment from a fan.

The first-time All-Star wanted to make sure he gave back to the fan who literally tumbled over a railing to try to catch one of his home runs.

Watch this:

Because of the sacrifice he made trying to catch one of his homers, Bennett Lloyd was tracked down by Olson thanks to the powers of Twitter, and will be receiving a ball and bat.

Lloyd was very appreciative of the gifts.

“No way,” Lloyd tweeted on Thursday. “You are the absolute best! This means so much to me. You have made an impact on the game of baseball, on and off the field. I can’t thank you enough!”

Lloyd said during the derby that he wanted the ball, and he “wanted it bad.”

That was obvious.

The short-lived experienced for Olson still gave fans plenty to cheer about. He lost to Baltimore Orioles slugger Trey Mancini in the first round, but still hit 23 long balls in the process.

Olson showed that he's an All-Star on, and off the field.
