MLB rumors: Coliseum finalizing naming rights deal with Ring Central

Share

Goodbye O.co Coliseum. Hello Ring Central Coliseum.

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that the Coliseum Authority is finalizing a naming rights deal with the business telecommunications company.

The deal, according to The Chronicle, would span three years and contains an option for a fourth year. The pact would net the Authority $1 million per season.

“We have a contract that we are finalizing right now,” Coliseum Authority Executive Director Scott McKibben told The Chronicle. “The lawyers are tying up last-minute loose ends, but the goal is to bring it to the authority for a vote Friday.”

Prior to O.co, the Coliseum had naming rights deals with Network Associates, McAfee and Overstock.com.

The news of a new naming rights deal for the Coliseum comes on the same day that the A's announced the Board of Port Commissioners voted 7-to-0 to approve a term sheet between the Port of Oakland and the Oakland A's regarding the stadium site at Howard Terminal.

The Raiders are headed to Las Vegas after the 2019 season, so the A's will have the Ring Central Coliseum all to themselves for the final few years of the deal.

We're on the fence as to whether the new name has a good ring to it. See what we did there?
