Elvis Andrus found himself a new home rather quickly.

After the Athletics released the veteran shortstop on Wednesday, Andrus cleared waivers and signed with the Chicago White Sox on Thursday, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported, citing sources.

The 33-year-old hit just .237/.301/.373 with 8 home runs and 30 RBI in 106 games played for Oakland this season.

Andrus was acquired by the A's in a February 2021 trade that sent former Oakland slugger Khris Davis, catcher Jonah Heim and right-hander Dane Acker to the Texas Rangers in exchange for Andrus, catcher Aramis Garcia and $13.5 million.

The two-time All-Star impressed with the glove and anchored the shortstop position for the A's before splitting time with rookie infielder Nick Allen, who is expected to become Oakland's everyday shortstop from here on out.

Andrus now will provide the White Sox with veteran depth at shortstop behind Tim Anderson.
