A's notes: Brett Anderson rounds back into form with seven scoreless

OAKLAND — While Ramon Laureano was the big story in the A's 1-0, walk-off win Friday night, Brett Anderson had to be a close second. The left-hander tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits and a walk.

“It was one of the better starts I had in awhile,” Anderson said after the game. “I was able to be efficient. You obviously want to strike people out, but whenever you're getting early contact like that, you're able to go deep in the game, and I did that tonight.”

Anderson became the first Oakland starter to pitch at least seven innings since Sean Manaea on July 4. That was 23 games ago, and the A's went 16-7 over that span.

--- Anderson took a perfect game into the sixth inning, and Tigers starter Blaine Hardy had a no-hitter into the seventh.

--- Matt Chapman singled in the ninth inning and has now reached base safely in a career-high 19 straight games. During the streak, he is batting .348 (24-for-69).

--- Jeurys Familia continued his brilliance, pitching a scoreless eighth inning. Since joining the A's, Familia has pitched eight innings, allowing no earned runs on just four hits, along with eight strikeouts.

--- Blake Treinen pitched two scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 0.96. Treinen allowed two hits and struck out four.

--- Oakland leads MLB with a 20-9 record in one-run games, and has an MLB-best 10 extra-inning wins.

--- The A's have won 10 straight games against the Tigers, their longest winning streak against Detroit since the Philadelphia A's won 10 straight from May 19-June 28, 1931.

--- Chad Pinder (left elbow laceration) took batting practice Friday and is on target to come off the DL Tuesday against the Dodgers. Pinder sustained the injury in a car accident last Saturday in Denver. No one was seriously injured.
