The Athletics avoided a pair of major injury scares after both Ramón Laureano and Frankie Montas exited Saturday’s loss to the Los Angeles Angels early with injuries.
Laureano was hit in the right hand in the top of the second inning at Angel Stadium. Montas was also pegged in his right hand by a line drive and also was removed from the game.

Fortunately, X-rays came back negative for both players and they will be day-to-day. Both injuries appear to be a bruise as of now.
After the game, Montas said he’s not numb anymore in his fingers and should be “good tomorrow”. The A’s are optimistic that Montas will be able to make his next scheduled start, but will have to wait and see.
Laureano could be back in the lineup as soon as Sunday.
Montas and Laureano weren’t the only losses the A’s took in Anaheim.
Oakland Athletics
Oakland’s 8th-inning rally came up just short as they fell to the Angels 5-3 at Angel Stadium.

After going scoreless for seven innings, the A’s scored three runs in the eighth but couldn’t get anything going in the ninth.
Mike Trout scored his 1,000th run and the Angels snapped their four-game losing streak with the win over Oakland.
With the series now tied 1-1 heading into the final game of the series, the A’s will look to take the series on Sunday.
